HSE COORDINATOR
Our client, an Oil and Gas company is seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator. This is a Permanent Staff position based in Aberdeen.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB’S FUNCTION
The HSE Coordinator shall provide support to the business for all HSE activities, working closely with Production, Projects, Clients, Contractors and/or Third Parties and Suppliers. The job holder will have a solid track record, be a self-starter.
The job holder must be able to actively and effectively communicate at all levels across the business and demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to resolving problems.
It is also expected that the person contributes to the continuous improvement of our HSE systems and processes, reporting any issues to line management as appropriate.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate and report HSE performance statistics internally and externally, including client and project HSE requirements and pre-qualification/ tender questionnaires
Support programmes aimed at promoting sustained HSE performance within the business.
Provide support on HSE activities to internal and external stakeholders as applicable.
Conduct employee HSE inductions and support visitor and/or sub-contractor inductions as applicable.
Support the continuous improvement and maintenance of the HSE management systems and supporting applications to meet relevant legislative, regulatory and management systems requirements including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Ensure changes to HSE management systems and supporting applications are communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Provide information, instruction and training in the HSE management systems and applications.
Verify contractor provided documentation is maintained including Contractor RAMS Reviews, Employers Liability Insurance certification and records of equipment certification and personal qualification and training records.
Provide support to ensure hazardous substance information is regularly reviewed, updated and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
Ensure hazardous substance information is regularly reviewed and updated and provide information, instruction, and training applicable to the hazards and risks.
Support emergency preparedness and response planning arrangements including participation in exercises to test response.
Liaise with Managers, Training Coordinator and trainers to conduct HSE training as applicable.
Coordinate occupational health surveillance monitoring activities, liaise with relevant stakeholders.
Conduct regular analysis and review of HSE observation and intervention data and recommend improvements.
Provide support implementing HSE campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives. Raise awareness and engage with employees on initiatives.
Ensure that all HSE incidents and near misses are reported, investigated and managed in accordance with company and client procedures.
Conduct and report internal audits and HSE Inspections to verify compliance with management system requirements ensuring findings are agreed and communicated in a timely manner.
Verify the effectiveness of actions to prevent recurrence prior to closure ensuring documented information is retained.
Support second and/or third-party audits including Client/Project audits, certification audits where required.
Support collation and reporting of energy and waste data as required in support of applicable Client and legislative/ regulatory requirements and company HSE objectives.
Prepare reports of HSE performance in support of management review activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award and/or NEBOSH Environmental Awareness at Work Qualification Award.
DESIRABLE
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate.
Internal Auditor qualification to relevant management system standard.
First at Work.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system requirements.
Proven experience and capability in maintaining business management systems.
DESIRABLE
Knowledge of UK HSE legislative and regulatory requirements/ regime.
Experience of internal and external audit activities.
Application of root cause analysis tools and techniques.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
IT skilled with data input / handling experience and working with databases.
Clear and effective communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to muti-task and adapt to changing working conditions.
Works well independently and as part of a team.
Organised and analytical with an enthusiastic approach to problem solving.
Good organisational, literacy and numeracy skills.
