Gary joined the company in May 2005.

What is the best bit about your job? It’s great to see Jan & Vicky develop and grow into their roles as part of the recruitment team. I really enjoy mentoring them – hopefully, they see it that way too.

What did you want to be when you were at school? I actually wanted to go into banking. As a kid, it was always exciting going into the bank with my mum & gran.  I had my own savings book.

What would clients/colleagues say about you? I’d like to think that colleagues would say that I really care about the business and the people in it – they would also probably say that I tell too many bad joke and silly stories!

What has been your proudest achievement with Strategic Resources? Becoming a director in 2014 has been my personal highlight.

What’s on your bucket list? I’d really love to play golf with a professional – maybe Sam Torrance or Colin Montgomerie as they would have some incredible stories to share. I’d also like to visit Australia or New Zealand & when I eventually retire, the plan is to travel around Europe.

What is the best bit about your job? Every day is different. I really enjoy working with everyone - clients, contractors & suppliers &, of course, our finance team.

What did you want to be when you were at school? I wanted to be a chartered accountant from the age of 15 – very sad, I know.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I’m treasurer of the Aberdeen & District Table Tennis Association & run Triangle Table Tennis Club at the Aberdeen Sports Village. Despite not getting any younger, I compete regularly in the local leagues & have won a few trophies over the years.

Any claim to fame? I’m fast approaching the 100th pint of blood that I’ve donated; which I am extremely proud of. A claim to fame for me would be that I was there on THAT night in Gothenburg in 1983.

What has been your proudest achievement with Strategic Resources? It would be the streamlining & improving the financial processes to enable faster, more accurate reporting & forecasting.
